13 January 2009 - Lews Castle College and Training for Development.
Lews Castle College and Training for Development (TfD) have announced that the college has bought the assets and business of Training for Development. David Green, Principal, Lews Castle College, and Donnie Macdonald from TfD signed an agreement on Tuesday last week, and TfD is now officially a part of the College. The agreement will allow the College to take a much more active role in the development of training for employed people throughout the islands, combining TfD’s experience and existing business with the College’s resources. For Lews Castle College, David Green said: ’ We are very pleased to be taking such an important step, particularly at a time when opportunities for training and education are changing, and when Colleges will be taking an increasingly significant role in meeting the skills requirements of Scotland’s economy. TfD has for many years provided a vital service in the Islands, and I look forward to working with Donald and colleagues in their new role as part of the college.’ TfD has provided many people in the islands with accredited personal development opportunities over its years of operation, due in no small measure to the skills and dedication of the staff employed. They look forward to the opportunities presented by becoming part of the College and are confident this will result in an increasingly comprehensive training offer available to candidates and employers throughout the islands. TfD will continue to operate as it does now, from the same premises in Rigs Road, and with the same staff - but with the additional resources of Lews Castle College to hand. Training provision for existing candidates will not be affected by this operational alteration. You should therefore feel free to approach TfD in the same way as before if you have any training requirement you think we can assist you with. For example did you know that direct assistance with training costs is available in the form of Individual Learning Accounts – call for more information. If you have any concerns about any of the above or wish additional clarification do not hesitate to get in touch.
