If you are an employer, we can help you to address skills shortages within your business, or if you are an employee we can assist you to improve your skills base against nationally recognised qualifications. 09 September 2007 - Local Construction business first to gain National Award Dan Maclennan and Alex MacLean of Lewis Builders Ltd accepted their Scottish Vocational Qualifications in Construction Site Supervision. The two are the first in a series of local businesses undertaking this Award. The National Occupational Standards which form the basis of the Award were developed by the Construction Industry Council.
Donnie Macdonald, TfD, said “This Award is an opportunity for local construction businesses to access approved Standards which meet specific quality and contracting requirements, and Alex and Dan are to be congratulated on their foresight in becoming the first local construction business to meet these Standards. They applied themselves to gaining the Award and demonstrated how evidence of competence can readily be derived from everyday work situations. If other businesses wish to access the Award they should contact TfD or Construction Skills”
Dan MacLennan commented “although it required dedicated time we were able to work with TfD over a relatively short time span to produce evidence from our normal work activity and the Awards are undoubtedly a valuable addition to our business resource”

Please contact us for more details and visit the Portfolio section of this website. 13 November 2006 - National Training Award for Training for Development Organisations from across Scotland were recognised for their success and commitment to training at a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday 2 November 2006 at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Glasgow.
The National Training Awards are the premier accolade for people and organisations that have achieved excellence through training and the winners were chosen for their ability to achieve success through their dedication to workforce development.
Training for Development emerged as winners of the Scottish Training Award category in recognition of the success of their local childcare programme. Presenting the award was TV’s Lorraine Kelly who congratulated TfD representative and programme co-ordinator, Margaret Macaskill on the achievement.
Attending the ceremony was Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, Allan Wilson who commended the winners on their success:
“These awards are a true celebration of training in the workplace and recognition of how skills development equates to real results for all involved”.
